Making a Difference

Michael Altman has been a volunteer since 1991 and has served on the Board of Directors of Flying Doctors of America since the early years when he was first elected. He has been a team leader on several medical missions  throughout the world and currently serves as Chairman/CEO of the organization. A CPA for 40 years and also a  Managing Director of a Financial Advisory Practice with Ameriprise Financial for 23 years.  Michael Retired in 2020 from his career to spend more time with Flying Doctors of America to slow down a bit but recently spends more time on Flying Doctors of America helping it continue after a 2 year Covid pandemic shutdown of Flying Doctors. He also recently started another company Altman Innovation Products and Publishing which includes 5 patents personally developed and a Number 1 best seller published book.

Kayreen is a nurse practitioner with primary experience in adult health and has also been an intensive care nurse for over 20 years. During this time she has also worked for a cardiothoracic surgical group for 6 years and managed an ICU for 2 years. Her primary area of expertise is ICU bedside nursing with cardiothoracic surgery patients. She went back to get her Nurse Practitioner degree from UAB and has completed over 10 years in Infectious Disease including working with Covid-19 patients.

Dr. John Arledge is a board-certified Gastroenterologist who has lived and practiced in Carrollton, Ga, since 2008. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He also was a Flight Surgeon with the Air National Guard from 2000-2012, rank of Major. He is a veteran of foreign war after spending time in Bagram Afghanistan as a Flight Surgeon.

Dr. Ashish Patel, a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry, has practiced in the Atlanta Area since 1996. More than a specialist cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry he teaches. Traveling throughout the USA teaching dentist new cosmetic and restorative skills. In the past years he has donated his skills and service in the mountain of the Himalayas, the Solomon Islands, the Marshall Islands and where his parents were born - Kenya.

Dr. Allison Koenig is a board-certified pediatrician in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia.  She attended college at Harvard University, and then completed her medical school and residency at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.  She has participated in medical missions to Haiti, Cambodia, Madagascar, and throughout South America.  In addition, she serves as a Board member for Kate’s Club, and as an Advisory Board member for GiGi’s Playhouse of Atlanta and Girls on the Run of Atlanta. ​

Dr. Douglas Schildhaus is a Pediatric Dentist, residing in New York City.   After graduating from Muhlenberg College he graduated Dental School at Boston University School of Dental Medicine.   Dr. Schildhaus has practiced for 25 years as a Pediatric Dentist in Woodbury, N.Y.   He also works extensively with special needs children.  As a Flying Doctors of America team leader he has been on multiple missions to both the Andes and the Amazon of Peru.

Fred Radewagen is an international government and public affairs consultant whose practice is centered on the Pacific Islands in Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia. A graduate of Northwestern University with a concentration in diplomatic history, Fred earned a Masters of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and has been involved in public policy and national politics for over 40 years.
